GALESBURG — Freshman Myles Estrada (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell Central) scored a season-high 17 points to lead the Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team to a 73-56 win over Knox JV on Sunday.
Estrada connected on 7 of 10 shots to lead the Chargers (5-2), who shot 47 percent (26 of 55) overall from the floor. Atem Agot (East Moline, Ill./United Township) added 10 points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting for Sandburg.
The Chargers lead 33-26 at halftime and outscored the Prairie Fire 40-30 in the second half.
Freshman Adam Cash (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) had five assists, four steals and a team-high five rebounds for Sandburg, which won its second straight game.
The Chargers earned a 78-47 victory over Monmouth JV on Thursday night while getting double-digit scoring efforts from three players off the bench.
Hunter Caves (Alburnett, Iowa/Alburnett) scored a team-leading 15 points while adding four rebounds and four assists. Eric Price (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) added 13 points and a team-high six boards, and TJ Price (Springfield, Ill./Lanphier) added 11 points for Sandburg, which led 38-16 at halftime.
